The cracks in Maverick John McCain are starting to show in the McCain lovefest campaign tour stops. A businessman and former Biden staffer got a little too real for John McCain's taste in Iowa yesterday, and asked him a question the press has been far too silent on:
"This question goes to mental health and mental health care. Previously, I've been married to a woman that was verbally abusive to me. Is it true that you called your wife a cunt?"
And that sound you heard following that question was the outrage of the values voters in Iowa over that word. Not from McCain, of course, but of the fact that someone would use McCain's own words in asking the question.
But is the kind of answer that will get McCain off the hook in the General Election when faced with more informed Independent-minded voters?
"Now, now. You don't want to ...Um, you know, that's the great thing about town hall meetings, sir, but we really don't .... There's people here who don't respect that kind of language. So I'll move on to the next questioner in the back."
It's not on yet, but it will be. And while John obfuscated his way out of answering the question this time, even the lapdog press isn't going to be able to keep this one covered up for him.
Because for once, McCain got it right. People don't usually respect that kind of language- especially not when you are using it on your wife.
So while we have to hear about Reverend Wright 24/7, and while the media, McCain and Clinton have all distorted Obama's message for months, the truth is out there. And it will set us free!
Obama '08!
Note: If anyone wants to help refill Obama's campaign coffers to take on McCain, here's my fundraising page
One last note: This race isn't just about Barack Obama versus Hillary Clinton, it's ultimately an election to rid our political system of "mavericks" like John McCain. It's about electing more and better Democrats in every level of government. And like Barack Obama, there are a lot of great Democrats running for office. Kossack Gilda Reed and Louisiana 1st Congressional candidate is one. Gilda has a special election tomorrow against an opponent who stands for everything we are working so hard against. You can show Gilda some love here! And if you know anyone in Louisiana, get the word out to go vote tomorrow!
